I finally figured out how to design my radiator cover because of Nicole Kidman's monologue in Eyes Wide Shut.

I was bluffing. Didn’t think it would actually get 20k. I don’t want to reveal my account and get roasted. Stop watching my movie.

If you’re debating what Val Kilmer movie to watch I’d like to remind you that Vilmos Zsigmond was the cinematographer on Real Genius.

This is a beautiful film and the epitome of what we program at MDFF Selects. It’s played Locarno, Viennale, NYFF, and BFI but somehow missed Toronto. This is actually the Canadian premiere. Essential to see in a cinema and few tickets for tonight at TIFF are back on sale.

Wish people were talking about how Netflix's Adolescence clearly feels indebted Alan Clarke's Elephant and Gus Van Sant's Elephant. Both Elephants were also funded by TV broadcasters. Van Sant's was HBO and Clarke's was BBC. Always wish more people were talking about Alan Clarke.

I met Marta in Vienna, she told me the plot and I knew I'd love it. On their way home, harvesters encounter a wild bull. They climb the vineyard trees to escape, as they hide in the trees, night falls and the workers share stories. If you're hooked you need to see this tomorrow.

I was on a run today and yelled at this car for driving too close to me. The guy actually stopped and I went up to confront him and just said "that's weird behaviour, man." I think it's a good sign that when I get worked up and flustered that I talk like The Dude in Big Lebowski.

Found the strangest set of Tim Roth stills for Made in Britain on Getty Images. They shot it like a promo for Growing Pains or Family Ties.

Just watched Black Bag. I wonder if Soderbergh collects his movie stubs.

Some say Matt and Mara is "Past Lives for Canadians" I prefer "the non-American Past Lives." This was clear when I visited Korea with Matt and Mara. When Past Lives was discussed the local take was why'd she pick the American? Mara rejects the guy who moved south of the border.

Had no idea Chaos The Manson Murders was an Errol Morris documentary. Jarring to not see Morris' name on the poster and it marked as a Netflix true crime doc that is indistinguishable from something like The Downfall of Diddy at first glance.

The budgets for Anora and The Wrestler are still way above almost all every Rainer Werner Fassbinder film. soundsimages.blogspot.com/2010/11/fass...

The Wrester and Anora both had a budget of 6 million. But if you calculate for inflation, if The Wrestler was made today it would have a budget of 9 million and if Anora was made in 2008 it would have a budget of 4 million.

The budget for The Electric State is $320 M. Adjusted for inflation, the 2007 $147 M budget for Transformers is $230 M. Studios double the budget with promotional spending, so lets say $460 M. If Netflix's VOD direct there's less spend. So $460 M vs $320 M is less shocking but still dumb.

I've always known it as L'Amour l'après-midi or Love in the Afternoon and occasionally Chloe in the Afternoon but this is the first time I've heard Love at 3pm or 'O Amor às Três da Tarde' which is apparently unique to Portugal. I kinda like it.

I can take people ripping apart Matt and Mara the very personal film that I spent years working on with my friends but if they come for my @letterboxd.social reviews of Charles Bronson impersonator Robert Bronzi movies it might break me.

Sean Baker is 54. I assumed he was 44. That he's been the same age since Tangerine. A 44 year old who looks like he's in his mid 30s. Surprised to learn he's older than Harmony Korine.

How the indie outfit MDFF is saving Canadian cinema, one film at a time The Toronto-based outfit can honestly lay claim to being one of the most influential forces in independent Canadian cinema

How @redvineski.bsky.social’s MDFF is boldly expanding its mission to support Canadian cinema, one film at a time – including Thursday's Toronto premiere of Philippe Lesage's WHO BY FIRE, which has been shockingly overlooked outside of Quebec. www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/film/ar...

PSA for Torontonians: check your eavestroughs and downspouts. Just prevented a basement flood. There's a lot of snow melting on roofs today. Make sure it is flowing away from the building and not pooling near the foundation because of snow blocking it.
