These House Dems are having an AIPAC-funded smiling vacation in a country currently bombing and starving millions of people with weapons they voted to send to that country.
Truly sickening. Stomach-churning. Ghouls.

Sooo am I to understand the rich are holding press conferences to publicly bribe the president now or am I missing something?

Do you make extra for each Palestinian you help the Israel government murder or do you have more of a bulk discount for genocide arrangement? Asking for your place in history.

The cover is black with a red hot air balloon featuring a dollar sign. The spine is slightly curved, indicating the book is in use. A yellow library sticker reads βVancouver Public Library, on-demand at STRATHCONA BRANCH.β The back cover includes a quote describing the book as βan accessible introduction to the simple (yet radical) premise that a small cash income, sufficient for basic needs, ought to be provided regularly and unconditionally to every citizen.β
π Just finished Universal Basic Income by @karlwiderquist.bsky.social UBI isnβt just an economic fixβitβs a democratic one.
As Karl writes, deeper democracy = more justice.
The threat? Nationalism & fear.
The answer? Unconditional support, not judgment.

22.07.2025 20:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One point I didnβt have time to make on MSNBC: some say this Epstein scandal is a βdistractionβ from economic issues, but theyβre all part of the same story. Trump ensures that the very rich and the very powerful are beyond the reach of the law, whether itβs sex crimes or white collar ones.
22.07.2025 02:03 β π 10 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0While manufacturing is a better economic basis than finance usury is a poor economic/monetary basis on which to build an economy given the power is handed to people with an incentive to give easy credit to increase profits and create bubbles.
22.07.2025 10:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Side note given the degree of private debt in the economy in China as well they are also a bit of a ticking time-bomb. The question is will they be able to leverage that to mitigate the worst effects of the economic disruption or not.
22.07.2025 10:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Democracy and the working class domestically. The only way to recover quickly would be massive economic and democratic reforms as a country or effectively or we could effectively become not a pole in a multipolar world but a vassal state to a more stable neocolonial economy IMO.
22.07.2025 07:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0to how hard or easy the global economy wants to treat us as we recover from the chaos we created slower than the other nations we imposed on it who work together to get out of it.
It is profoundly difficult to model a future in a system intentionally sent into chaos to undermine
US leaving behind free trade policies as the center of global free trade as the reserve currency is like UK having to rebuild after Brexit only itβs Germany that did it as the main force of the system. Only we are doing it at a global scale. Any projection our models make will be subject
22.07.2025 07:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0the rest of the world needs to economically isolate us as quickly as possible to make sure we do as little damage to their economy as possible when all of our chickens come home to roost and after we have done this much harm to the global economy they will not hurry to bring us back.
22.07.2025 07:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Rebuild afterward and recover quickly. Leading to increasing stagflation risk and a further collapse of the middle class I will suspect their models are at risk of being overly optimistic.
This admin is surrendering every competitive advantage we have and behaving so erratically,
Until I have confidence they are taking into account the model change and the fact that the world is re-organizing supply chains to isolate the US increasingly over the next 3 years as China becomes the economic pole as the new center of free trade, US will be starved of finance toβ¦
22.07.2025 07:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you apply recent history assumptions on current events I suspect they are applying the wrong models all together.
What they are aiming for is a mass consolidation of wealth to the Elite who learned neoliberal/neoclassical economics in Business school which may as well be taught in crayon.
Further an economic historian would know the economic effects these policies created in the past as they have been done before: Economic Depressions.
Their interpretation of βcapitalismβ is closer to mercantilism; a disproven economic model everyone in the world but us apparently has moved past.
Which is just their version of the IMF and World Bank.
At the same time Trump is not doing investment in domestic infrastructure for chips and other national defense production including agriculture which Trump is gutting.
Firing the Fed will just accelerate de-dollarization creating inflation even beyond what the trade wars and lack of bond demand are creating.
At the same time China is landing trade deals with the countries we are alienating while providing loans through the belt and road initiative
So we could offshore our inflation with bond sales you can only take that so far under the best circumstances. This is not the best circumstances and Trump is doing his best to devalue the USD and alienate all the countries who might create demand for our bonds with his trade war nonsense.
