I think an investigation is needed into Keith's behaviour regarding those clips. I propose the investigation should be led by Keith.

Excellent show. Tom gives the best explanation I have heard of how to judge historic racial stereotyping - what is the intention and is it done without malice but also without care. Thank you

New! THE SALE OF MANHATTAN
With Tom Salinsky @tomsalinsky.bsky.social
pod.link/1569929507

The one where Seagoon is approached at the Athenæum Club by two chisellers, duped into believing he owns New York and paddles all the way there in a zinc bath tub to claim his birthright.

It doesn't go well.

Not yet. I’m not one to binge watch, I’m quite happy to wait a week for the next episode. It gives me time to reflect.

I have heard one mention of Canada as a place ex-slaves tried to reach. Africa has featured prominently but not South Africa. Don’t get me wrong, the series is excellent, well researched and revealing.

It’s excellent but with an agenda. I have heard no mention of Ireland, Canada or South Africa

Why on earth would Neil Young hate you? You are the epitome of inoffensiveness.

HEROES OF COMEDY (Channel 4)
With Chris Diamond

From 1995 to 2002 Heroes Of Comedy celebrated the finest comic talents Britain has ever produced (and Bernard Manning) and this week we're taking a look at three editions: The Goons, Terry-Thomas & Tommy Cooper

A sweeping generalisation. I read the Victor, the Eagle and the Rover and Adventure and grew up in the 1950s and 1960s. However, I can tell the difference between fiction and fact and learnt how to use discernment.

Good show and an excellent subject. I think the album suffers from being largely taken from the TV show.
I had this on CD at one time - same picture.
The footbal pools back then was bigger than the National Lottery was when it began. Google Viv Nicholson and you'll see.

New episode! THE POLICY
pod.link/1569929507
With Andy Bell @rhaglencymru.bsky.social

The Goon Show had several fixations - plagues and disease, World War Two, the decline of Empire - and, as with this week's episode, insurance policies.

Join us under a short, fat tent for The Indigestion Waltz!

Too many to choose from - the Hungarian - English phrase book, the Gas man, Ministry of silly walks, dirty fork, Hell's Grannies, I'd probably have to go with the Spanish inquisition, if that counts as one sketch.
