The proposed negotiations include the new course closures though. That is also what the press is reporting while news of a local UCU victory on the new course closures is being splashed over social media - fanned by UCU.

Maybe I'll decide that Jo given that my discipline is directly involved & if Nottingham UCU caves in then that will have a knock on effect for the rest of us. Solidarity and all that 👍

UCU would appear to be claiming to have won a victory but have had no tangible concessions in return. Courses are being cut over 3 years. No redundancies for 1 year means nothing. They've stood down the strike & have a much weakened bargaining position.

What result is that exactly? Nothing tangible has been achieved & all momentum for protest has been surrendered.

Were compulsory redundancies on the newly announced cuts ever on the cards before November 2026? You've lost any momentum you had for very little that I can see.

Really terrible news from the University of Nottingham. The idea you can have a comprehensive university without language and music is absurd. Higher education serves society and you can't have a society with imagination and purpose if the people in charge decide creativity is worth nothing.

Well then, the archaeology community would do well to communicate what it would like to see to the detectorist community constructively rather than slandering the hobby & diminishing those who practice it. I haven't seen anything from you or others via the NCMD.
