When one mother was taken by ICE, another stepped in to donate breastmilk
Moms in Minneapolis are donating diapers, food and time to help families who have been ripped apart by ICE.
A newborn in Minneapolis hadnβt eaten for a day and a half.
ICE agents took her mother when she went to work, trying to make money for diapers.
Her 16-year-old and Bri, a local mother of two, saved that baby's life. @chabeli.bsky.social tells their story

A detail I don't want to get lost in this: So far, Bri and her network have helped more than 500 families with grocery deliveries and more than 300 with diapers and wipes. In just two months.

In Minneapolis, for every story detailing the fallout of the federal crackdown, there are as many stories of people like Bri, a mom donating breastmilk for babies whose mothers are detained by ICE.

Nurses have advocated for better working conditions for years. Prettiβs death elevated the ongoing challenges for a profession that is increasingly in the crosshairs of immigration enforcement.
In Prettiβs final moments, Jean Stone saw a nurse.
To watch him come to the aid of a woman & reportedly askif sheβs OK, βThatβs something that a nurse says constantly in the process of a shift."
Now, nurses are protesting, holding vigils, saying his name at picket lines 19thnews.org/2026/01/nurs...

At day cares in Minnesota, strangers are showing up at their doors as parents scramble to protect staff
Parents are stepping in to be volunteer teachers or shuttle providers to work to protect an immigrant workforce.
The first time it happened, a man was outside the day care recording. βThereβs nobody here,β he was saying into the camera on his phone.
βCan I help you?β she asked him. The man said he was there because of Nick Shirleyβs video. He wanted to see the children.
