How do you explain ICE to your child? Immigrant families are having 'The Talk' For generations, Black Americans have prepared their children for the realities of racism. As ICE expands its reach, more parents are navigating similar conversations.

The boys’ club: How Epstein’s influence shaped the exclusion of women in STEM In one email, an AI researcher suggested it’s “hard to be brilliant if you are worrying if you look fat or why another woman hates you.”

This story is SO brilliant. @jkutzie.bsky.social combs through the Epstein files to find how many prominent men in STEM privately disparaged women and excluded them from opportunities.

When one mother was taken by ICE, another stepped in to donate breastmilk Moms in Minneapolis are donating diapers, food and time to help families who have been ripped apart by ICE.

A newborn in Minneapolis hadn’t eaten for a day and a half.

ICE agents took her mother when she went to work, trying to make money for diapers.

Her 16-year-old and Bri, a local mother of two, saved that baby's life. @chabeli.bsky.social tells their story

In Minneapolis, for every story detailing the fallout of the federal crackdown, there are as many stories of people like Bri, a mom donating breastmilk for babies whose mothers are detained by ICE.

The impact of Alex Pretti’s death has reverberated across America, but perhaps more deeply among the nation’s nurses and health care professionals — who see themselves reflected in the actions he took before his death. My colleague @chabeli.bsky.social and I explore: 19thnews.org/2026/01/nurs...

In Pretti’s final moments, Jean Stone saw a nurse.
To watch him come to the aid of a woman & reportedly askif she’s OK, “That’s something that a nurse says constantly in the process of a shift."
Now, nurses are protesting, holding vigils, saying his name at picket lines 19thnews.org/2026/01/nurs...

At day cares in Minnesota, strangers are showing up at their doors as parents scramble to protect staff Parents are stepping in to be volunteer teachers or shuttle providers to work to protect an immigrant workforce.

The first time it happened, a man was outside the day care recording. “There’s nobody here,” he was saying into the camera on his phone.

“Can I help you?” she asked him. The man said he was there because of Nick Shirley’s video. He wanted to see the children.

We finally have jobs numbers out this morning from September and take a look at this: big jump again in Black women's unemployment, now 7.5% from 6.7% in August.

This figure has been ticking up all year. This is now the highest unemployment rate Black women have faced in 4 years, since mid-2021.
