also. that persons art is amazingly rendered and polished so i genuinely just had no clue what they were on about and told them bluntly so. like, please leave me alone!! i don’t want to feed into whatever it is you’re trying to prove. i actually like my peers and cheering on their success 😭
especially because this person was making the claim that the peer doesn’t deserve the success they got for their skills. i think that’s so reductive to art as a whole to just reduce artistic merit down to technical abilities. especially in comics, if anything it’s a FEAT to find shortcuts
i had a frustrating conversation with another artist who attempted to gossip with me about a peer👎
i know i myself can be critical sometimes but don’t expect me to sit there nodding along while you shit on a fellow student and artist for being “bad at art” it’s just lame and underhanded
