I'm birding out west this weekend. My Bird of the Day is the Clay-Colored Sparrow. They've been buzzing all around me. :-)

Lunchtime for the chicks was solid evidence of breeding #birds this morning.

With spring migration mostly over, I've shifted gears. Am getting back to Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas surveying now. Kind of fun to be reminded of which birds hang back to nest across Middlesex.

I did a Big Day with some pals yesterday, birding from Rondeau back to London. Always a bit of fun. Last species were Grasshopper Sparrow and Mockingbird out at the airport then Nighthawks over Western after 9:00 p.m. We saw a bunch of Black-billed Cuckoos through the day.

Witchety.

Even on a rainy day in spring migration there are cool #birds and cool birders to see.

This Black-winged Redbird brightened up a grey Rondeau morning earlier to day. #birds

Rondeau #birds today. Lots of Wood Thrushes and warblers in the park, then over to Blenheim lagoons for late afternoon waterfowl.

And before a bonus bird for the day... I had never seen a partially leucistic Catbird before. Kinda cool. #birds

I was surprised to find a bird this morning that is usually so well camouflaged sitting right out in the open.

I was birding down at Yarmouth this morning. Happy to hear the bee-buzz call of my first Blue-winged Warbler of the year. #birds

I was checking out the #birds at Skunks Misery today. Lots of wildflowers coming up too. And if I had a fave frog, it might be the Wood Frog. Such a cool mask.

Summer's here! All of a sudden. What a spectacular day to be out. It barely matters what #birds we are seeing.

My first Pine Warbler of the year. Hurrah! This colourful beauty was at Ashbridges Bay. I've been birding in T.O. #Birds are always such a swell counterpoint to the news.

A Carolina Wren heralds the snowless part of spring this morning on my north London loop. #birds

I got in a nice sunny loop at Westminster Ponds this morning. Best sightings included, grebes, DR, Wood Ducks, and some sepia-toned Eastern Phoebes. #migration

Very pleased to see Barrow's Goldeneye at Stanley Park this morning. Have spent hours scoping thousands of Common Goldeneyes in Ontario hoping for a single Barrow's.

Happy to be seeing Anna's Hummingbirds.

Pleased to see BC's Provincial bird, the Steller's Jay, on Vancouver Island today.

Rain forest birding in the rain today. "Best" = Pacific Wren.

I enjoyed a classic west coast March day. (Which is to say much rain.) In spite of that, some excellent birds including Golden-crowned Sparrow, Fox Sparrow, and Green-tailed Towhee in Beacon Hill Park.

I did a day of pelagic birding on the Salish Sea with a couple of pals today. Lots of Rhinoceros Auklets. Great to see Orcas too.

I'm doing some early spring birding out west. Black Oystercatchers were a fave species today.
