Guy who made 800 million dollars selling a website named ToodleCo to Yahoo in 1996 and has done nothing since then but now has $100 billion: the concept of “human kindness” was invented by bolshevik psychologists in 1953, no one heard of that term until then

Much more fun than you may expect an Oscar-nominated short to be. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxpj...
Both the winning live action short and the winning animated short (among others) are on Youtube. I liked them both, but especially this one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuOE...
And Day by Day must have been just after that — another deeply underrated show!
For years it was my main association with Courtney Thorne Smith.
This is Amy Madigan and Ed Harris refusing to applaud Elia Kazan's honorary Oscar in 1999. During the Blacklist Era, Kazan named names.
Good on Amy and Ed.
Twin Peaks: HE DID NOT DO IT. A secret message from Cooper to Truman during Bobby’s questioning.
Crudup is a small small role, but his big scene is as big as anyone’s, and so many supporting noms are on the strength of one scene anyway.
Loved Sinners, Train Dreams, One Battle, Sentimental Value, Little Amelie.
Liked Bugonia, If I Had Legs, Just an Accident, Arco, Frankenstein.
Liked bits of Hamnet, Blue Moon, Elio.
Loved Amy Madigan but there were other worthy horror movies, eg Bring Her Back.
Snubs: Crudup, Nouvelle Vague
I love that I gave myself a 24 hour notice, like in case there’s anything I need to get done first.
Why did I do this

Never found out for sure if this was the result of a replace-all mishap (“say fall, not autumn” is a common K6 copyediting directive) or if this kid is named after Tarsem’s best movie.
After reading comments I think I need meatball to be lower, I forgot how bad the mediocre ones can be. It was my go to as a kid but we always went to the same place.
Veal but you gotta know the place. I don’t know who’s responsible for the mediocre veal cutlets, I’m guessing Sysco.
Then meatball, then the Burger King chicken parm when you’re 14, then good chicken parm when you’re an adult, then eggplant. I am intrigued by artichoke though.
I made a chicken pot pie, but it’s square, so definitely considering pizza tonight. (My father would say it’s fine because pi are squared.)
Folks, I regret to inform you: This design was OK'd by the Citizens Coin Advisory Committee in...October 2024. Its design was set in place when Biden was in office. The designer left out the olive branch to symbolize the colonists' not yet achieving peace, but hoping for it. Trump didn't do this.
can this be a solution?
“But, as you see, it's a beautiful day, the Strait of Hormuz is open and people are having a wonderful time.”
In a recent interview, Platner said “half my family is Jewish.” He recounted when he sang shirtless at his brother’s wedding, where everyone saw the Totenkopf, the clear implication being that if his Jewish family didn’t mind, it must be all right.
Well, about that Jewish family ...

If you described someone else's movie as "Emerald Fennell's The Devils," I'd definitely watch it, but I don't want to actually see Emerald Fennell's The Devils.
*levee*, of course. What the fuck.
My only real experience with the casino other than a token visit to hit the slots and buffet was watching their fireworks from the levy and then bouncing a check to a cab to get to the ER because I had been bit by fire ants who had crawled through industrial waste. Welts the size of tennis balls.
The cemeteries one (my favorite apartment by a mile) was also next to an abandoned-looking commercial space with blacked-out windows and 4–7 expensive cars parked outside (not the same cars) and I never once saw anyone coming or going. But I'd go out for cigarettes, come back, different cars.
I've lived across the street from a strip club, surrounded by cemeteries, and down the street from a mob hangout that was only open weird hours like 3–6 on Thursday*, but the most depressing and bad-vibed place I've lived near was a casino. Just fucking dire.
*These are three different apartments.
I'm not going to FILE on Friday the 13th. I'm a horror writer for Christ's sake. Why tempt the forces of narrative.
This is the earliest I've gotten the rough draft of our taxes done in years. Tax day is also Caitlin's birthday (which usually means travel) AND the day our car/home insurance is due, so it's always a hectic mess.
(We owe money, I underpaid my quarterlies. But it's fine.)
