For me the concern is a lot of people equate the stimulus checks from the pandemic to Trump, when it was not from him specifically and he fought to have his signature on the check.
This feels like that, but worse. I think especially for the demographic of younger users, this will be an endearment.

exactly this. this entire ban was (literally) political, and the repercussions of TikTok returning are going to be EXTREMELY political, in a terrifying way.
