Sci-fi is my first love, but I do like fantasy, too. It's been a while though. A dear friend passed along "The Bone Ships" by RJ Barker as a recommendation. Only 50 pages read and I'm all in.

Two days of rest to soothe our souls. If only the chores would do themselves. Wish it was easier to find the bits of joy and peace, but at least they are still there.

I think they call it a "break", because if you don't take it, you will break.

It's a form of self love to be selective with who you allow in your space.

The dubious trio
Fate, destiny, and luck
They’ve thwarted my heart
I do concede that it may be bad choices
My own damned fault
I’ve surrendered nonetheless
To their false course, or the path I paved
I will live it, and still love
But a love for my fellow humans
For peace for our brethren

Just because someone wants something from you, doesn't mean you have to give it. You are under no obligation but the one to yourself.

I hope you forgive yourself for doing what you needed to survive.

Throughout my life, I was told I'm too sensitive. It used to hurt. I always felt there was something wrong with me because of their words. But fact is, I fucking love my ability to feel things deeply. Passionately. If you're a sensitive person too, be proud! You're perfect just the way you are. 🫂

Been an avid reader since my late teens. Doing the math ... that's just short of 40 years. Read many types of books (95% novels), but I always cycle back to science fiction. These are a random set of four that I really enjoyed.
