Marcus is being punished for an Indian British girl going against her parent's rules and choosing to have sex. His punishment acts as a twisted pacifier for the family. A projection of disrespect and them feeling like failed parents. Someone had to pay.

Dubai is not to blame in the Marcus Farkana case. A law was broken and a sentence given- whether we agree with this particular law is a different conversation. However, what the girl's mum did by reporting him was cruel and deliberate.

Noticed this pattern a while ago when I spent time there as a freelance commentator with the broadcaster and privately questioned it.

A very unhealthy obsession with Muslim based stories was apparently linked to the 'audience'.
