Hair Ice is the only ice formation we know of that's caused by a fungus! The frosty mornings in the PNW have provided perfect conditions for it! I went out and found some this week with my doggos.

The painted anemone is common in the salty waters of the Pacific Northwest. This species has a commensal relationship with the candy-striped shrimp, which can live amongst its tentacles. The shrimp gains food and protection whilst remaining unharmed by the anemone's stinging nematocysts.
