On July 1, we recognize the Indigenous Peoples whose ties to this land continue today.
Downtown St. Catharines sits on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee, under the Dish With One Spoon Wampum.
Let’s reflect, learn, and uplift Indigenous voices.

Though its days as a bank are behind it, the building continues to welcome the community — now as Patrick Sheehan’s Irish Pub. Its classic façade and storied walls remain a reminder of the city’s commercial past, and the way Downtown architecture continues to adapt while preserving history.
🏦 Step back to the 1960s at the corner of St. Paul and Queen Street, where the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) once stood proudly at 101 St. Paul. Built in 1912, this limestone landmark has watched Downtown St. Catharines evolve for over a century.
Need to cool off? The City of St. Catharines has designated Cooling Centres available during heat advisories — including the Central Library (54 Church St.) right here Downtown.
Stay safe, stay cool, and enjoy the sunshine! 🌿💦

Downtown St. Catharines is making waves in the culinary world! Toronto food writer for The Toronto Star, Jessica Huras, is calling our city Ontario’s next culinary hot spot, highlighting the incredible talent and creativity shaping our food scene. 🍽️
While we are sad to see her go, we’re excited for her next chapter as Executive Director of the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA). Rachel’s contributions have left a lasting impact, and we look forward to her continued work advocating for Ontario’s Main Streets.
Under her guidance, Rachel grew our team and strengthened relationships with our community partners, helping us better serve our members and the broader community.
Since joining us in 2021, Rachel’s leadership has been central to our growth, with a strong focus on advocacy, governance, and policy, along with sustainability initiatives. She also brought on several signature events, championing cultural initiatives that have become downtown favourites.
It is with mixed emotions that we share the news of Rachel Braithwaite’s departure as Executive Director of the St. Catharines Downtown Association (SCDA).
