The @nswsocialists.bsky.social make some excellent points here re the recent explosion at the chemical waste facility operated by Coopers Environmental in St Marys, western Sydney. I wonder if ABC News will report these concerns. 🤔 #auspol #nswpol #environment #NSWSocialists
At the nationwide protest for Gaza today in Sydney. Keep fighting until Palestine is free ✊🇵🇸
Huge shout out to the fifty volunteers who braved the heat for our first NSW Socialists letterbox in the Inner West! We’re getting the word out about Labor’s developer-driven “Fairer Future Plan” and making it clear that housing should be for people, not profit. 🏡
West Syd drivers fork out millions of $$ in tolls to use the M4 which is privately owned by Transurban & yet subjected to constant traffic, delays, & risk being crushed by concrete roofing! NSW govt should scrap their partnership with Transurban & put Sydney’s roads back in the hands of the public
Thanks to one of our members Brigitte who sent this in - it’s a pic of her kayak facing down arrests by jet-ski cops after one of the three times they paddled into the shipping channel to help close down the worlds largest coal port alongside others at Rising Tide in Newcastle. Legends. ✊🌊
More pics from Socialist Party members over the weekend!
The world’s biggest coal port was shut down this weekend by thousands who refuse to sit back while governments sacrifice our planet for profit. Solidarity with the brave activists arrested for stopping the coal ships. Respect to all the organisers and volunteers who made this blockade possible. ✊🌊
Full house for our forum ‘Climate change is class war’ with @purplepingers.bsky.social over the weekend. Thanks to @risingtideaus.bsky.social for organising the entire weekend, bringing activists from all over the country to fight climate change and the profiteering fossil fuel industry!

This year alone Labor added another $6 billion to the defence budget for AUKUS nucear submarines. Now they want workers to pay for it by cutting $5.6 billion from the public service? Thats 10,000 public sector jobs, cuts to health, education, the NDIS - services already stretched to breaking point

JUST NOW: Rank-and-file workers in the NSW Nurses and Midwives Association have just moved — and passed — a motion to endorse the nationwide protests for Palestine on August 24! You love to see it ✊🇵🇸
See you on the Bridge comrades. Sunday August 3, 1pm starting at Lang Park 🇵🇸
Join the NSW Socialists contingent meeting at 12:15pm Lang Park - look for the big NSW Socialists banner
If your union is on the list, grab a flag and join the contingent. If your union isn't on the list call your organiser and ask why. Rank and file organising in unions has been key to driving solidarity with Palestine.
A record number of unions have pledged their support for the March for Humanity — the MUA, ASU, Nurses & Midwives Association, ETU and more. This is a step towards rebuilding a union movement that sees the power of workers as key to winning justice in the face of war & genocide.
Lies and slander continue to be heaped upon the Palestine solidarity movement. Still ordinary working class people can recognise a genocide when they see it.
We are witnessing a systematic starvation plan unfold in the Gaza Strip. In the face of that Aus politicians have refused to take real material action to oppose the genocide. Penny Wong this week had the gaul to describe F35 parts that Australia sends to the IDF as “non-lethal”.
We won! The people will be marching across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to oppose the genocide in Gaza. Minns tried to stop us. The cops tried to stop us. But the mass outpouring of solidarity with Gaza is unstoppable.
Join the March for Humanity, Sunday August 3rd 1PM starting at Lang Park
NSW Socialists calls on the Australian Govt to sanction Israel now. Cut all military & economic ties. Arrest those accused of war crimes in Australia. Expel the Israeli ambassador & withdraw the Australian embassy from Tel Aviv. We need real action for Gaza now!
During the Vietnam war the best elements of the union movement called on Australian workers to “stop work to stop the war” during the Moratorium marches. Union solidarity with Gaza is a step towards rebuilding a workers movement capable of challenging war and genocide.
It’s excellent to see unions like ETU, ASU & NSWNMA endorse the March for Humanity. If you’re a unionist, reach out to your union about endorsing the march and organising a contingent. We know the workers movement can be a powerful force for peace, justice & anti-imperialism.
Minns lit the Opera House in the colours of the Israeli flag early in the genocide. The people of NSW now demand that our bridge is used as a symbol of humanity & solidarity with Gaza. We want to shut down our city to demand our rulers shut down a genocide.
The Bridge is closed for Hollywood films, marathons and fireworks that bring in tens of millions of dollars for bosses. The bosses and politicians who have backed this genocide would prefer Sydney to be a playground of the rich, its icons only used to make money.
Sydney workers built the Harbour Bridge. It’s our bridge and the most iconic symbol of our city. We marched across it for LGBTI rights and Indigenous justice.
The images of skeletal men, women and children we are seeing demand a mass response.
This weekend we need to see a mass outpouring of solidarity with Palestine. Gaza is being starved before our eyes after nearly two years of bombing, siege, ethnic cleansing and war crimes. Now Israel is carrying out a deliberate campaign of mass starvation
