Clemson coach can't begrudge NIL 'business decisions.' He welcomes back transfer with 'open arms.'
Tigers basketball coach Brad Brownell allowed Georgia forward RJ Godfrey to transfer back as he navigates a changing landscape of the portal and athlete pay.
Clemson coach Brad Brownell isn't afraid to say it.
In this NIL/transfer portal era, players make "business decisions." He didn't begrudge RJ Godfrey for making one when he transferred to UGA.
A year later, Brownell welcomed him back with "open arms."

What helps Clemson's basketball GM land transfers? Many friends, many texts and Mountain Dew.
Brad Brownell's his director of recruiting acts as the program's general manager, helping land transfers like Jake Wahlin, Carter Welling, and Nick Davidson.
In a recruiting landscape that can feel transactional, Clemson has tabbed a relationship-builder as its roster-builder.
On Lucas McKay, the ex-UNCW student manager turned GM who helps the Tigers land transfers.

Playing USC on a non-Saturday? Scrapping in-state FCS games? Clemson AD says it's all on the table
Tigers and Gamecocks play in Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 29 this year. Clemson also faces Furman and has games with LSU and Notre Dame coming up.
While there is talk of programs lightening schedules to improve CFP chances, Clemson AD Graham Neff wonders the opposite.
Maybe schools want to play 10-11 P4 games instead of 9-10. And FCS opponents?
"Do those become spring games? Or exhibitions?"

Clemson's making a run in the ACC tourney. Could Tigers return to the top 8 discussion?
Erik Bakich and the Tigers beat N.C. State in Durham, N.C., on May 22 and play Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament semifinals to improve regional host bid.
Clemson didn't look like a top 8 team during a losing skid.
Clemson has looked like one in its last handful of ACC games.
The Tigers might only have an outside chance at a top-8 national seed in the NCAA tourney, but they're making things interesting.

One Clemson basketball player tried football but quit. He hopes latest Tiger will 'see it through'
Olu Babalola played basketball for Oliver Purnell. He joined the Tigers for spring ball in 2005. He played with Gaines Adams and was coached by Dabo Swinney.
So this was cool. Got ahold of Olu Babalola in the U.K. to talk about his Clemson basketball to football switch in the spring of 2005.
He wishes, to this day, he was able to touch Howard's Rock one time.
He hopes Ian Schieffelin will "see it through."

Dabo Swinney is a big Clemson basketball fan.
He said before the NCAA tournament even happened that, regardless of what occurred in the postseason, this team needed to be appreciated for its achievements.
