you know i'm struggling as an artist rn because I've suddenly went back to traditional after not doing that for years and am trying to learn to draw with my offhand in the hopes that it'll do anything to my motivation

Is it just me or does it feel like a ton of artists are having a lot of trouble finding the motivation to make anything at the minute?

I really should have a halloween pfp at this point but idk everything I make rn looks bad

trying to include detail like musculature and stuff without clashing super hard with my more cartoony art style is super hard but I think I've kinda pulled it off

I should post my unfinished sketches more so I actually use this account more than like 1 or 2 times a month

it's funny too because idk I get it if you're allergic to wasp stings but for people who aren't it's like, there's such a low chance of one just deciding to sting you unless you agitate it

people talk like this about pretty much every common detritivore it's so weird, like I see isopods talked about like they're a pest when they're pretty much nothing but good news for your garden

I feel like this early I should be a lot looser with their designs, when I keep referencing from other drawings of them I think I'm missing out on opportunities to make their designs look better

I think something that's really fucked with my motivation with character stuff is that I keep trying to stick with referencing from previous drawings when I feel like it's a lot better if I just draw them from memory until I'm able to just consistently have them look right

I like how | you draw her, after many years of hourglass figure hornet it's actually kinda surprising to see more people draw her like a stick figure atm

the only issue is with work and college that's going to make anything bigger than a single drawing take me forever to make, but I guess it'd still be better than never finishing anything I want to

-way of approaching art. Maybe if I just quit in the middle of bigger things to go make something completely tonally or stylistically different that fits how I'm feeling more then I can come back to the bigger stuff and finish it

I don't know if it's that in my case, my issue is more that I want to do things that are bigger in scope but when I try to get them done I reach a point where I just can't bring myself to do more of that specific thing, I think I might just need a more erratic and random-

the fucked up part is the recent porn stuff I've done is also miles ahead of any of the sfw I've done in terms of polish

it actually looks finished and cohesive, at least to a greater extent than anything sfw I've made

which I really need because my brain is a fuck and I desperately need to understand why I fluctuate so hard between being productive and then barely finding the will to finish stuff

This is more of a general thing than specifically a response to this post, but I appreciate how often you make posts talking about the relationship between artists and their art and how much you analyse and understand your own process, it reminds me to do the same

It's really weird to me that porn is one of the few things I can commit to drawing easily and actually finish, especially when it's not the stuff I'm the most passionate about drawing, you think I'd find it easier to get the stuff that's more important to me done

I need to stop falling back into this pit of "I need to work on this specific artistic thing" when I know I can't commit to that with how my brain works atm, I need to make more weird shit that feels completely unlike the other stuff I make when I get the urge to

yeah I figured it'd probably be more straightforward progress compared to rimworld's constantly trying to kill you or dwarf fortress' butterfly effect type gameplay, I might still like it though so I'll give it a shot

I've been considering getting into factorio because I hear it get brought up alongside rimworld and dwarf fortress which I both like but I'm not sure how much weight that comparison actually carries beyond them all being management games
