I was thinking of Smite when I said it but yeah Brawlhalla too. Looked it up and Smite's is even discounted to $1.50 on Steam right now.

And demonstrably very few people stuck around to do that because Dota and Marvel Rivals style F2P where the entire roster and gameplay is free is the standard 2XKO is being compared against nowadays.

I'd even have taken a "$40 for all characters forever" pass over the "Pay up per or grind it".

anyway i made a patched version of 2xko that doesn't require vanguard for archival reasons, can't connect to servers (obviously) but it also allows modding so there's the potential to reimplement online for when the game inevitably sunsets

Well it's divisible by four if nothing else. Very solidly puts Tokon in "1v1 game where you happen to be able to tag" territory now.

The Saiyan Arc is so unbelievably good.

But man is it still weird to go straight from end of OG to Ten's arm being punched off and everyone dying one after the other.

He tries to keep the fantasy/divinity stuff around post-Raditz but it really does take until Beerus and DBS for it to feel like anything more than just an attempt to say "Hey I didn't forget about all that."

The switch to Sci-fi is still jarring but after about 4 years worth of arcs culminating in Goku and Piccolo becoming indisputably the strongest two guys on earth, and Goku rejecting taking Kami's job, then yeah "An even stronger guy comes from space" sounds like the best way to keep the party going.
