I've had a cheeky punt every now and again... I am not taking a moral stance on who websites partner with. I do think audiences deserve to be informed about the relationships with casinos/gambling and where money is coming from/going. Ultimately, audiences decide what they support!
I asked the Exec Editor at Insider Gaming about the policies they have for gambling content 10 days ago, but I didn't receive a response. This is not the same as Clickout, which often has casino pages that seem to prey on vulnerable gamblers... but we should interrogate where we're headed.
Pushing the story forward, people also need to examine where gambling in videogames coverage sits and what audiences want
Take Insider Gaming, which doesn't promote gambling on its homepage but for two small links in its footer. However there's a URL filled with casinos content and affiliate links.
Fascinating but sad stuff happening at Clickout Media sites. Videogamer scorched. Gambling content removed. No updates. Dead.
If you're reporting on deindexing, you need to ask Google about this too. Dig a little deeper. Being right > being first.
A very sorry result for those who had top quality work on Videogamer that predates the AI slop era. For the idiotic new parent, a top notch fuck around/find out really -- they are lucky Google didn't manually deindex every brand they own, as that's what I would've done

I've never worked with ClickOut Media, and YET I've still been personally affected by their reckless 'journalism.' I'm considering options now, but I can say that my old work been messed with on a site that COM acquired last year, and that I've been recently exposed to legal issues because of them.

This review has been pulled, and it seems future Videogamer reviews will no longer be on Metacritic now. They say tehy're working through the past archive to determine at what point stuff switched to AI (defo a few more up still). Props to the guys there for very swift action on this front.
