We heard loud and clear from homeless shelters and affordable housing providers around the city the best route to move forward was immediate cash assistance to help neighbors stay in their homes—not blunt measures that put people greater into debt. We’re doing that with $1M in rental assistance.
Today, I proposed $1M in rental assistance instead of an eviction extension. I spoke with many housing & shelter providers about what they need. We’ve been down the eviction road before and it doesn’t work. Our neighbors need help and need it now. This funding will do that. kstp.com/kstp-news/to...
Ramadan Mubarak. Grateful to join so many neighbors this weekend to celebrate Iftar.
This community has shown, time and again, what it means to look out for one another—especially during difficult moments in our city. Our city is better when we embrace our differences and care for one another.
Best city in the world.
Minneapolis makes decisions with data, not guesswork. From better services to smarter neighborhood investments, we use real info to guide our work. Proud to earn Bloomberg’s What Works Cities Silver Certification for putting data into action to support and serve our neighbors.
International Women’s Day is a reminder that progress doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because women lead, organize, create, and push us to be better. Minneapolis is stronger because of the women who serve our city and community every day.
Our snowy, northern city now has a new sauna downtown.
New businesses like beem Light Sauna bring energy to the Washington Avenue corridor, create jobs, and add more things to do in the heart of our city. Excited to celebrate another great addition to downtown Minneapolis!
Good riddance.
These are some of the true heroes of Minneapolis.
Along Lake Street, small business owners and community members are delivering meals, supporting neighbors, and keeping their doors open during moments of uncertainty and fear.
Their resilience & love for this city is what Minneapolis is all about.
At NEXT26, Greater MSP introduced a bold 10-year plan to move Minnesota into the top quartile in national economic performance — with a clear roadmap and the next 1,000 days already underway.
We’re ready to get to work.

New traffic cameras in five speed zones are doing exactly what it was designed to do - slow drivers down and make dangerous intersections safer for all vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and road users.
In just three months, our traffic camera pilot reports speeding rates have dropped by 51%.

That’s a downtown on the comeback.
Congrats to Barra — a new speciality coffee shop on Nicollet Mall brewing up a great cup of coffee in the heart of our skyway system. Go see what the buzz is about.
A building reopened. A community strengthened.
Today, we joined Red Lake Nation to celebrate the opening of Ombimindwaa Gidinawemaaganinaadog — a powerful new space for culture, ceremony, and healing. The City is proud to have partnered with our local Tribal leaders to make it happen.
The president once again attacked our city, targeting our Somali community members during the State of the Union address.
The invasion of federal immigration agents will have lasting effects on our refugee and immigrant community and we stand by our neighbors.
Congrats to our 40 new MPD Community Service Officers and cadets. Choosing to serve right now — at a pivotal moment for our city — takes real courage and commitment.
We’re stronger because of people who step up for their neighbors, and I’m grateful to each of you for answering that call.
What makes a city safer isn’t fear or force. It’s trust. It’s neighbors showing up for one another.
Minneapolis did not bow. We did not break. We chose resolve over panic and love over hate.
The forces of fear can never conquer a city that loves its neighbors more than it fears retribution.

The answer in Minneapolis is no — no abdication, no policy changes, no agreements other than the decision to end the operation itself.

Our crews were out working hard today! Thanks to the team for keeping our streets and bike lanes clear.
I stopped by the newly opened House of Sambus on the Northside and got a lesson from an expert sambusa maker. Eedo Deka has rolled more than 1,000 sambusas in two days for iftar.
I have a newfound respect for the process, & these might be my favorite sambusas yet. Happy Ramadan!
Excited to welcome a new skyway storefront and celebrate Dao, owner of Moon & Stars Children’s Boutique.
Small businesses power our economy and bring downtown to life. Congrats, Dao — and thank you for sharing your passion and talent with our city.

We are grateful to the person who put out the fire before the first responders arrived. While there were no injuries, several items at the memorial were damaged.
Thank you, Minneapolis — for showing out, standing up, and loving our city and neighbors.
In some of the darkest moments, Reverend Jackson was, for me, a voice of truth as our city walked through dark times. I feel honored to have known him and been encouraged by him.
Rest in power, Reverend Jackson. Your light will continue to guide us.
