Nate Silver has the best polls on Trump & Musk. Here's his poll from mid-July:

I wonder if it's really legal to pledge shares that (a) have no fair value assigned to them and (b) that don't vest for 2 years.
07.08.2025 02:53 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0By not giving a fair value of the interim award, Tesla doesn't have to expense it unless Delaware's Supreme Court overturns the lower court's ruling (doubtful) or if Musk leaves by Q3 2027.
If not, the vested shares could trigger a tax event as they did in Q4 2021.

Tesla's Board says Musk needs this bonus to keep him at Tesla during this transition from an EV maker to an "AI, robotics, & other services" company. ๐คก
Why? He drove down Tesla's EBIT by 78% since 1H'22 due to his political antics, yet Tesla still has no AI to show for.

Tesla's 2025 Interim Award of ~$24BN for Musk is a joke & it's crafted in a way that skirts most accounting rules.
No other mega-cap company issues a $24BN award to its CEO without a fair value estimate. Even Tesla's 2018 grant had estimates & accrued for it each quarter.

Tesla July EU sales so far:
France: 1,307 (-27% YoY)
Denmark: 336 (-52%)
Sweden: 163 (-86%)
Spain: 703 (+27)
Total: 2,509 (-40%)
This comes on top of news of Tesla's "Robotaxi" launch in San Francisco with human drivers.
This isn't an Uber ride in a Tesla. It's a Tesla "Robotaxi" ride in the Bay Area last night. I kid you not. ๐
No surprise that $TSLA got booted from the Magnificent 7.
But it's still worth 5.2x more than Uber & 3.5x more than Toyota Motor.
We live in strange times.
Exactly. Tesla doesnโt have any need or the money to buy more LGES battery cells or Samsung chips.

Look at Elon Musk. Look at Dan Ives on CNN, CNBC, & Bloomberg every week.
Since Enron, can you name any executives from listed companies whoโve done real time in prison for fraud?
Great article by Politico here on how California is curbing Musk's efforts to continue his "robotaxi rollout" dog & pony show by flouting the laws.

Turns out last weekend's robotaxi "rollout" in the Bay Area was indeed fake.
Tesla leaked an internal memo to Business Insider last Thurs, sparking an option-fueled rally in $TSLA.
Musk is being properly restrained by California regulators, who are familiar with all his moves.

Musk scrapped plans for a global compact EV & went all in on robotaxis without steering wheels or pedals.
Some still think he's a genius. ๐
Fun fact: 71% of US consumers say they wouldn't ride in a robotaxi. 77% said they wouldn't use Tesla's FSD, with 48% believing it should be "illegal". ๐
29.07.2025 18:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If everything they say is true (it's not), why are they compelled to call it FSD "Supervised"?
And why was the robotaxi rollout in the Bay Area over the weekend canceled? ๐คก

28.07.2025 17:00 โ ๐ 20 ๐ 4 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's funny: the only people who have unquestioning followers in their Cult are Musk & Trump.
And these things tend to end in bad ways.
The SEC never mattered after they were shown to be useless in the Bernie Madoff case.
They could be re-energized if Trump tasks them with, say, a probe into $TSLA options trading?
Last Friday's 3.5% rally in $TSLA saw huge call option buying.
A report on Tesla's robotaxi service starting in SF "this weekend" (which didn't happen) was the catalyst.
CA won't allow robotaxi tests without Level 4 autonomy. Tesla likely knew this.

Tesla uses the Investopedia definition of EBITDA which is Earnings Before Interest expense, Tax + D&A.
GM uses net interest income, which is better (Tesla's TTM interest income is 23% of pretax profit).
Both are lax & I prefer Operating Profit + D&A. Total net non-operating income should be cut.
What's "X"?
