omg I finally figured it out. I had a hunch, what if I look at your guide on itch io and map it the same exact way in godot as you did in tiled π it works now! wow. I feel so dumb hahahah
Interesting! I think I understand correctly. So Godot won't be able to detect corners if I don't have a full 47/48 tiles? I am using layers similar to tiled, and keeping them organized, the cliffs sit on top of other ones. I haven't found any way to connect these. Perhaps I truly do need 47. π°
I'm going to be real for a second. Making pixel art is completely barbaric and outdated. 3D devs are out here sculpting entire continents in mere minutes. It takes WEEKS to create a basic tileset, and map it in Godot with all transitions and corners.

For cliffs, no matter how I map them in Godot, godot simply does not want to accept the mappings, and connect them together -_- For example, I have corner transitions for this tileset. Godot won't recognize it when there's a cliff on top of another cliff. i'd say this is a huge roadblock for me
So I'm mostly using Godot not Tiled Map Editor since I want to be in one unified program. I've learned that the most challenging part is figuring out how to use the tilesets I have, rather than the art behind it... it's pretty challenging. Trees and cliffs make almost no sense to me right now
haha Im just messing with ya. I just noticed you hadn't posted on itch or here in a while. Hope all is well!
Absolutely. Detaching from society, and seeing inanimate objects as living beings is not a healthy approach. Studies have shown interacting with chatbots for roleplay has severe psychological consequences
Some people are looking for meaningful connection in video games. They don't want just a story anymore. They want an actual psychological, intimate social connection with any character they choose in the game. Which is kind of disturbing.
It is so shocking how much grocery stores are price gouging ingredients at nowadays. They claim it's because of tariffs, or inflation. But some of it is corporate greed too
@vectoraith.bsky.social are you aliveeeee
Like, how insane is it to say we need 1) to steal from writers 2) drain public resources like the water and electric supply 3) pay millions of dollars in technology costs. Just to be able to talk to imaginary characters like they're a chatbot? Truly absurd
I'm genuinely worried for our future. It's terrifying how stupid the AI craze is making people. Here's a person on reddit claiming we "need" generative AI in gaming to have full conversations with NPCs. Why not just hire more writers? Because then, we wouldn't have infinite dialogue! ππ€ͺ
This might be one of the cutest games I've ever seen
Feeling none of us really know what we are doing, we are just trying to throw things around and hope that it sticks. You've done great though. Inspiring me to try and create a UI now πΆ
Making a game looks so freaking easy. But make no mistake, it is so damn challenging π π half the time I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing
#pixelart
This is some pretty great UI. I've seen a lot of really bad ones, but damn, this looks like it flows together so well
I think the gaming industry needs a complete overhaul. We have solo developers trying to make AAA size games with no help, and AAA companies releasing unfinished slop and abandoning it. There has to be a middle ground
#gamedev
Honestly loading screens aren't such a bad thing, just have to find a clever way to handle them. A game without loading screens is really tough to pull off
Oh that's awesome! They're really cool. My wife uses procreate too. I wish I was more talented as an artist!
how do you make these??
Why do these tech obsessed people struggle so spectacularly to understand why literally NO ONE wants generative AI in gaming? I want to FEEL something. AI doesn't think. It's not even real. Why would I want AI quests or dialogue?

It's insane how far people will go to rationalize micro transactions in games, owner by multi billion AAA corporations πΆ
I really like how this art is more realistic, and portrayed without the body extremes of a lot of other Warcraft art.
Very cute
How do you tile the trees on top of each other like in the perimeter?
for anyone who does #pixelart with godot, how do you tile trees? like on top of each other?
You're doing it because the psychological conditioning they employed worked perfectly. They made sure people want to play their game, no matter how unfun it is. This is one example of things I hate about the game.
this is actually so cute haha
Blizzard has to be paid what they are due. Hehe
After a short break, going to be starting up my pixel art journey again ππ
