It’s important it’s a song you know well, so you can always recall it, but not one you LOVE, because you want to use it primarily for this purpose.

I picked ONE song that I moderately like—in my case, a lesser-known sing by my favorite band, Roxy Music—and I sing it to myself every time I get an earworm. The same song, every time. Eventually, it trains your brain to think, “Oh, we’re ditching that other song.”

Oddly enough, I just wrote “Bizarre Love Triangle” into a scene in my WIP. 🙂
But, sadly, my actual earworm right now is Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please,” because my kiddo wakes up to it every morning.
But also but: I fortunately have an excellent earworm killing strategy.
