Mayor for the City of Edmonton. Let’s build a stronger Edmonton, together
Thank you to the Sindhi Association of North America for hosting such a beautiful event.
Traditions like this make our city special.
It was wonderful to celebrate my first Sindhi Cultural Day as Mayor this weekend along with my Council Colleague Councillor @kerentangyeg
Sindhi Cultural Day is marked around the world on the first Sunday of December, honouring the rich traditions, music, and heritage of the Sindhi community.
As Edmonton grows, collaboration across all partners and orders of government is how we ensure people can find the housing they need in the communities they love.

These projects aren’t just building homes, they’re building stronger, more inclusive neighbourhoods.
Today we celebrated a step forward for housing in Edmonton.
With MinisterJason Nixon & our City of Edmonton partners, we marked the development of 10 surplus school sites. A once-in-a-generation opportunity to create 1,300 new homes, including more than 900 affordable units.

Today at City Hall, we honour the foundational contributions of the Métis people to our city, and we celebrate the legacy of Louis Riel - a leader who gave his life in the fight for Métis rights and identity.

It was a pleasure meeting with Minister
@eleanorolszewski.bsky.social for our first discussion about our shared commitment to delivering for Edmontonians - building more homes, protecting local jobs, empowering vibrant and inclusive communities, and making our city safer and stronger.

Started watching some of this tonight but it’s a long video so I’ll have to finish it over the coming days.
10.11.2025 04:10 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Good morning from CBC Edmonton!
Talking about the importance of day shelters today!
It means that more Edmontonians will enjoy safer communities.
It means less pressure on workers in our libraries and public spaces.
And it means that we’re building a stronger Edmonton, together, by supporting those who need it the most.
#yeg #yegcc
Today, the council unanimously approved my motion to improve & expand access to emergency day shelters & dedicated day shelter spaces for the winter of 25/26
What does this mean?
It means that people experiencing homelessness will now have more places to go during the day to receive support & care
At a time when many Edmontonians are struggling, acts of kindness - like today’s generous donation to the food bank - remind us of the power of giving and community.
Thank you to the organizers of today’s event for bringing us together and showing how we can build a stronger Edmonton, together.
It was an honour to join Edmonton’s Sikh community in celebrating the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and to declare November 5 as Guru Nanak Day in the City of Edmonton.

Thank you Edmonton.
That is why serving is both a privilege and a challenge.
I know our city will rise to meet this moment.
A stronger Edmonton is not an aspiration; it is a shared responsibility. For each other. For our city. And for the generations still to come.
Municipal government is where the work of democracy is felt most directly.
When snow is cleared, when the emergency lights come on, when a park is renewed or a business permit is approved, that is local government in action
I know you are counting on all of us to work diligently and with patience, respect, humility, and an open mind. This is a time to show what we can achieve together.
Only 242 people have held these seats in the history of our city and, today we add to that history.
Today I am grateful for the profound trust placed in each of us by the people of Edmonton at the Edmonton City Council swearing-in ceremony.
Today begins a new moment for our city.
Edmonton, thank you.
I'm excited to build a stronger Edmonton, together.
If you’re still in line, don’t leave - your vote counts!
Every single vote in this election matters.
As long as you’re in line, you will get to cast your ballot!
We’re hearing about delays at voting stations across the city, and we know it’s frustrating - especially for those heading to work or who can’t stand for long periods.
If you’re already in line, please don’t leave -you will still get to vote.
Every voice matters. Every vote counts.
