Aventurine dial

PanoMaticLunar Anniversary Edition

Glashütte Original has created an aventurine dial for a watch for the first time: PanoMaticLunar Anniversary Edition. The deep blue material was developed by Venetian glassmakers in the 18th century and named after the Italian word for 'a ventura' (by chance), referring to its accidental creation.

Screwed 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 are a traditional feature of Glashütte watchmaking. These small gold rings or inlays hold rubies and are held in place by tiny blued screws. In the past, they were used to equalise the sizes of natural rubies and make it easier to replace a bearing jewel.

The 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 has a special place inside a mechanical timepiece. The reason is that it is similar to a "beating heart" of the watch: Together with the escapement system, its oscillations regulate the rate of the watch and the movement of the gear train.

Glashütte watchmaking has evolved over 180 years, honoring traditions and details. The Calibre 92 in our 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is the best example: it's the latest generation of mechanical movements from Glashütte Original and is now being used in a PanoMaticLunar for the first time.

Glashütte Original is honouring 180 years of Glashütte watchmaking with a striking anniversary model: the 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 with sparkling aventurine dial, limited to 180 pieces.

The 𝘀𝘄𝗮𝗻-𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 has been used in Glashütte since 1888 to adjust a watch's rate precision. A set screw on the curved swan-neck spring is adjusted for regulation: changing its position changes the effective length of the balance spring, thereby influencing the watch's rate.

The Glashütte three-quarter plate is the basis for many of our watches. This wheel bridge takes up three quarters of the movement's surface and has been used in Glashütte watches since 1864. It ensures stability and allows the movement's parts to interact smoothly.

PanoMaticCalendar

The skeletonised dial of our new PanoMaticCalendar provides a glimpse into the multi-layered soul of this wristwatch. As an annual calendar, it displays the precise time and date. The month display is also an elegant design element: the respective month number shines out in white.

An explosion of colour that is entirely to our taste! The autumn issue of Revolution Watch USA features our new PanoMaticCalendar and pop artist Michael Moebius. Michael's works are world-renowned. We love his creativity, which we have had the pleasure of experiencing live on numerous occasions.

Our new 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 is anextraordinary timepiece. The cut-out dial and sapphire crystal case back reveal the mechanical workings inside the watch, which would otherwise remain hidden. To achieve maximum transparency, the blue-coated dial has been generously skeletonised.

Once the dial blank is complete, it is given its individual look. In the very sensitive and time-consuming process of electroplating, metallic material is applied evenly to the surface by electrolysis. When painting, an even layer of colour is applied by hand and then dried in a kiln.

Our Sixties Panorama Date is the best example of the great potential offered by different historic influences and experiences. This mechanical wristwatch is a contemporary interpretation of a historical design combined with the latest technology and high-quality workmanship.

Luxury goods were rare in the GDR, but VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe offered a wide range of products. Between 1951 and 1991, the company developed 4 automatic movements, incl. Calibre 74 (Spezimatic), designed to meet the trend towards very slim watches – and exceeded all expectations.

After World War II, the Glashütte watch industry lay in ruins. But the employees didn't give up & were able to produce small quantities of watches just a few months after the war. The remaining companies merged to form VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (GUB).

The art of German engineering is the epitome of excellent quality all over the world. As a result, the mechanical timepieces from Glashütte Original bear their “Made in Germany” seal of origin with pride and embody maximum precision, reliability and durability.

Our Serenade Luna combines maximum Glashütte precision with precious materials and a feminine design. Beneath its graceful forms and slim 32.5 mm diameter, it conceals a real mechanical powerhouse. Its movement Calibre 35 has an automatic winding mechanism and a running time of up to 60 hours.

In the 1920s, watch companies in Glashütte thought that the newly emerging wristwatch was a passing trend. When people became aware of this misjudgement, they had to make up for it. UROFA finally put a concept on the table that secured Glashütte watches a new place at the forefront of their time.

Almost 100 years ago, there was a clear change of era in the watch industry: The triumphant advance of the wristwatch was underway. For a long time, however, Glashütte was sceptical about this trend, but when the challenge was finally accepted, it was done with clear principles and creative ideas.
