what could possibly go wrong

Not a knock on the game at all, it's just not immediately obvious that base DK can clear most of the game, and the game was designed to let him do it. Once that clicks it becomes a great experience

Finally beat DK Bananza. Insanely good game with amazing level design if you just don't use the Bananza powers. They're basically just cheat codes that skip over everything the game has going for it.

Looked at my first Steam purchases from 2011 and 3/5 of them are games I played for 3 minutes and I didn't even remember owning. Steam has always been like that huh

BALL x PIT, a Brick Breaker style bullet hell/bullet heaven roguelite fusion that seems to work pretty well and understand every genre it's mashing together. The optional CRT filter and gameplay make it feel like an arcade game. Maybe my favorite so far.

Shroom and Gloom is a "double deckbuilder", you have one deck to explore and another to fight with. Interesting concept, and another demo that you can get a good feel for in just a few minutes.

Superhero dispatch by some of the Telltale Games folks. Actually a bit disappointed in the demo: it felt short and ended abruptly. Voice acting was good though and I'm hoping the actual release will be fun.

Fun monster tamer/roguelite from the devs of Monster Sanctuary, which was a metroidvania in the same vein. Highly recommend both, Aethermancer has a nice pixel aesthetic and interesting mechanics that feel like they'll add nicely to the genre.
