Most certainly, it's just the unfortunate circumstance that so many people don't have the means or willpower to push themselves for it.

I don't like what they've been doing, been against it at every chance I get, even.
But it goes without saying that there is a very good reason why they've gotten away with as much crap as they have.

That is to say that it isn't necessarily that people didn't "see it coming." Moreso that many feel like that leaving feels like giving up what little comfortable socialization they have, in favor of diving straight into knowing no one, or being forced to know everything about everyone.

I think the issue is that discord is really the only place that exists as a point between the niche / obscure internet circles, and the overstimulating homogenized cesspool that is the various forms of social media. It is an unfortunate must for those too anxious for both radicals of the internet.

I've always seen McMillen games as like... offensive in a weirdly inclusive way?
It's offensive, garish, and obtuse extremely often, but it never does so in a way that is outwardly derogatory, which I suppose is admirable???
