In the private sector, Bell Canada has a massive contract with Unifor, representing 3,500 crafts and services workers, expiring later this year.
Bell Canada just announced the largest round of layoffs in 30 years today, eliminating 4,800 positions throughout the company.
The university faculty strike wave over the last couple years could continue as dozens of faculty contracts across the country expire in 2024.
As the crisis of public education funding continues, conditions remain ripe for faculty to fight for better wages & working conditions.
Ontario premier Doug Ford will be in for a ride this year as massive worker contracts with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union expire.
Under new president JP Hornick, OPSEU has entered a "new era of bargaining" that increases worker organizing and engagement.

I haven't finished it yet, but Doppelganger by Naomi Klein already feels like the most important book for understanding post-2020 politics. I'm screaming "Yes!" at every other paragraph. It's brilliant.
