I'm in a #github internal group for high-profile FOSS projects (due to @leaflet having a few kilo-stars), and the second most-wanted feature is "plz allow us to disable copilot reviews", with the most-wanted feature being "plz allow us to block issues/PRs […]

Ok, I'll retract this statement, as it seems *a lot* of people still use rgba() and hsla().
Instead, I will recommend anyone who uses hsla() or rgba() to read this article, as even the comma-separated syntax is now legacy.

I'm starting to have countless stories to build a case against AI in code. It makes people selfish, not thinking for themselves anymore, arrogant, unhelpful, and really oblivious to the impact of what they are doing to other people in a production pipeline (who are going to clean up their mess).

Description of a talk to be given by me on Tuesday November 4th entitled 'Cloud Optimized Shapefiles' running from 2 to 2:30 at 'Lake Audubod' (presumably a room, I've submitted this talk on the assumption it will be given on dry land). The description of the talk reads:
Imagine a world where you could take a bounding box, and with a few quick look ups do a web request to download just the rows of a shapefile that are within that bounding box and then also do a separate request for the properties since that is stored in a separate file.
You no longer have to imagine because that world, is the world you live in. Join us for an exciting talk well suited for any person interested in the minutia of how obscure geospatial files formates and obsolete databate files are laid out internally. Furthermore scintillating discussions of geo indexing strategies will also take place.
This is THE talk to attend if you are passionate about sidecar files.
Cat pictures will be provided.
Assuming Washington D.C. still exists and only if it is safe for you to come to America to spend your business dollars without being arbitrarily detained, please attend my talk where I discuss being nerd sniped by @pwramsey.bsky.social into writing the stupidest geospatial format possible. #foss4g

traffic
I log into Cloudflare and I see THIS for the last 24 hours.
What? 3 billion requests in 24 hours? What on Earth is that? Also, 215 TB of traffic from tiny, 70 kB files?
The article continues on my blog:
