Excited to teach people at my LGS.

I think the point is the kids that want to buy packs can’t afford to buy an entire stores stock. But the adults can, and do.

That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of adults that genuinely love Pokémon. But only adults are the ones with the ulterior motives for buying in bulk.

For me it’s 25% the Fortnite-ification of a richly built deep-lored fantasy game. 75% the creation of mechanically unique and often interesting designs that may never see Universe Within printing.

If they just sold both UW and UB versions it would make everyone happy and probably more 💰 for them.

It’s frustrating to see a “set” like Spider-Man have so many mediocre, phones in feeling cards then immediately after release being inundated with dozens of mechanically unique, interesting, UB cards from other random places.

At my LGS it’s 20-30yo “collectors” and people videotaping themselves in-store opening packs to post online.

Literally 95% of the people that bought Pokémon yesterday (200+ packs and ETBs) fit into those two categories.

Magic players. Is anyone able to identify this sleeve?

I got them around 2021. Am 90% they are Ultimate Guard Katanas but none of the colours on their website are this shade.of green.

Need to find more for a cube. Help is much appreciated.

Never noticed til now how much they phoned it in on the updated MCChicago pin.

Hasbro just clinging to MTG like a flotation device as they continue to try to stay above water.

Instead of working to making it float better they’re stacking all the random shit that floats by on top. SpongeBob toys, comic books, etc.

They keep it up, it’ll eventually stop floating.

As you may have heard Youtube is being AWFUL and Shuffle Up specifically is being HIT HARD by the their latest madness.

As a longtime MTG fan and lifelong Trek fan:

1. The first non-magical full set they’ve done was Spidey and it wasn’t great and largely a flavor fail w multiple missed opportunities.

2. They are making a product aimed at the pickiest fandom on earth. They are not ready for this.

Love the setup. I want to play in that basement!

That’s kinda been the case for 2025 MTG. FF felt generally pushed. Edge had some interesting push and Spidey has one chase card that’s pushed (speakers volumes about the “set”).

I’m hoping we see lots of cool play space come from Avatar and cool updates to what made Lorwyn great.

Great issue and a well deserved beating.

Woof. Just watched a booster box of #MtgxSpiderman opened and had 2 mythics in the box.

Trash pull rate on that. Hope it’s not the norm but based on the size of the set it might be.

I’ve been hearing this A LOT at my LGS. One guy said “I’m gonna try out SWU. I’m exhausted with MTG right now”

Others have just said basically “wake me up when Lorwyn drops”.

SPM has the fewest preorders my LGS has had in 3 years for an MTG product. MKM had twice the preorders.

I’m the one that’s happy to be here.

Maybe it’ll get a reprint in the Avengers set

Rhinos Rampage is great for my Kibo deck.

That guy behind him smiling is the “arms guy” for the day.

I wish they’d made “Supportive Parent(s)” for each Spidey and had them all be alternate prints with a quote from them. May and Ben with Peter, Gwen with her parents etc.

Literally the only time I’ve ever thought “I wish there were more alternate arts of this card”

This hits harder than when I saw this movie the first time.

If there’s no Villain card that allows you to have the Sinister six in a single deck the #MTGxSpiderman set is a flavor fail for me.
