Hello Discord, I have been a user for several years now and I host a server with nearly 700 members. It's healthy, thriving, and full of the kind of connections that I'd hope you seek to engender through your platform. We love each other and try very hard to maintain a healthy community exclusively of adults, a rare thing these days. Recently the entire server has become extremely concerned over data privacy. Several members have lost their accounts within the last month alone due to scams and phishing. We know it's unavoidable to some degree but there is significant worry that the upcoming screening measures will be extremely dangerous. The data you collect and store has been vulnerable to hackers and even if you claim it will be deleted there are concerns from a point-of-sale vulnerability on your end, or the client's. There is also significant risk that the systems will be insufficient to effectively screen children; giving false-confidence and allowing minors to interact freely with content not suitable for them. I have some doubts that anyone will read this email. Morale for users is becoming low and our attitudes are becoming more pessimistic that anyone hears our concerns. If these screening measures are upheld it is a tacit endorsement of the deconstruction of my community and an indicator that Discord does not hold the security, privacy, or will of its users in high regard.
