It was also really great to see a copy of the Alternative Prospectus that the @theattuneproject.bsky.social team at the @kent.ac.uk (Nicola Shaughnessy, Annette Foster, Libby Jenner-Holmes and myself) have been working on, and I look forward to seeing how it develops further.
It was amazing to co-present findings and the soundscape from @theattuneproject.bsky.social at the #AMHDM #UKRI @ukri.org event in London yesterday alongside the wonderful @ksbhui.bsky.social and Srhya Lalh. Seeing all the work done across the project and catching up with the team was really lovely
You can explore more about this incredibly diverse and creative body of work on the ATTUNE website.

ATTUNE have co-created a soundscape with young people, giving us a personal insight into the internal life of living with ACEs.
This was an incredibly powerful experience for all of us.
It is a call to action for everyone. Listen, reflect. Policy must happen with us, not to us.
#AMHDMshowcase
'Ace of Hearts' is a serious mobile game co-developed by ATTUNE with young people.
It supports experiences around bereavement, poverty, disability, gender dysphoria and being a young carer.

ATTUNE developed 'Validating Voices' — a resource to help organisations work in trauma-informed ways. It's being co-adapted for GPs and embedded across settings in England.

ACEs have detrimental effects on depression and anxiety between ages 11–14, with impacts differing across intersectionality profiles.
Vulnerability is patterned by social position as well as exposure.
#AMHDMshowcase
ATTUNE found that belonging, sensory regulation and creative arts can have a restorative effect.
#AMHDMshowcase
ATTUNE identified 'new' ACEs defined by young people themselves — including masking in neurodivergent youth, school trauma, and constant invalidation of experiences and identities.
#AMHDMshowcase
Jack and Srhya are the ATTUNE lived experience advisors and researchers.
They will take us through some of the key findings.
#AMHDMshowcase
Creative arts matter for youth mental health.
ATTUNE found arts-based practices can illuminate mechanisms linking ACEs to mental health — enabling expression when words are not enough.
#AMHDMshowcase
Invalidation was a mechanism that came up again and again.
Young people felt that this was almost worse than the original ACE.
#AMHDMshowcase
Kam starts by stating that ACEs can be very hard to talk about.
Adverse Childhood Experiences don't end in childhood. Ongoing invalidation in schools, services and relationships "keeps the hurt going" through adolescence.
#AMHDMshowcase
ATTUNE worked with 74 diverse young people using arts-based methods — animation, dance, film, music, photography — to understand how adverse childhood experiences affect mental health in adolescence.
#AMHDMshowcase
Our next presentation is about ATTUNE:
A multidisciplinary research programme understanding mechanisms and mental health impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences to co-design preventative arts and digital interventions.

#AMHDMshowcase
Tiegan hopes that it will take some of the responsibility away from young people.
"It has helped me both professionally and personally, given neurodivergent people a strong voice"
Many thanks for a fascinating and innovative programme

Good morning! Day 2 of #AMHDMshowcase begins 🌅
Another packed morning of adolescent mental health research insights ahead.
Early Career Researchers are networking in the Trinity Suite – great to see the next generation connecting! @UKRI.org
Panel discussion now at #AMHDMshowcase: "Involvement of young people in research – impacts and lessons learned"
Chaired by Vanessa Pinfold from @mcpinfoundation.bsky.social, Dr Alison Penny from @ncb.org.uk, Prof Paul Cooke, and, most importantly, young person advisory group representatives.
It was an immense privilege to co-chair the third dissemination conference for the @theattuneproject.bsky.social in London alongside Srhya Lalh. As the project ends, it was amazing to see all the research outputs and to think of the progress made over the course of the last 5 years of the project.
Learning about how the ATTUNE team co-created a game with young people exploring adverse childhood experiences
Today we're hanging out at ATTUNE's impact & dissemination conference, project exploring the impact of adverse childhood experiences on CYP mental health. Looking forward to learning from you! 👍
