Installed nest box. They’ve pecked all around the eaves on this dormer and the one on the other side of the cabin. Let’s hope they’ll like this east side.

So we have a Flicker problem. Hopefully they’ll think this is a good alternative. #nestbox πŸͺΊ #weekendproject

Do Dems have a plan to reverse all his damage? If you get the midterms there will be 1 chance to get this country back on track fiscally before Rs blame you for everything. Dems better find their roots and connect with the working class! And start paying down the deficit!

I’m hoping for the same for March. We’re heading out of town for a few weeks and I’ve just finished potting up the first round of seedlings. I have over 200 plants that our housesitter will not know what to do with 🀣

6-pack on the left is Bare Stem Biscuitroot, on the right is Mules Ears. They’ll go into 2” band pots.

The Lomatium will go in the large garden island near a Garry Oak. And on the shrub steppe mound at the driveway.

Mules Ears can be highly aggressive, so the plan is to plant them in an old unused irrigation pond. There are some snow berries and woods roses that have come up in the last few years, that are starting to form a small thicket. I may also try a couple amongst the aspen saplings in the pasture behind the stables.

Holy smokes! I gave the seedlings their first feed on Friday - a very dilute Dr Earth’s β€œfertilizer tea” (I was aiming for .5-.5-.5). Left for 3 days and got home to find lots of new foliage and roots! Guess I’m potting up this week! The Wyethia and Lomatium especially put on a lot of leaf size. 🌱

Plug for Seattle Urban Raptor Project, who tracks our urban peregrines! They also have volunteers who stand by during fledging season, to rescue unsuccessful fledging attempts. (Drowning/being run over, etc.)

He said this in the context that the courts ruling gave him an alternative route to tariffs. Dumbshit Kavanaugh said in his dissent that there were other ways he could impose tariffs. Now he’s imposed an additional 10%!!

The large, deeply lobed, dark green leaves of Sticky geranium are in the foreground, with their pink blooms above. This is one of the plants in my garden I collected seed from. To the right is Idaho fescue, left are the leaves of bearded iris.

Middle of photo are Penstemon Barbatus, Rudbeckia, Rocky Mtn bee plant and Annual Sunflowers. Up top to the left is an elk eaten fir, with ridge and sky behind.

These native Sticky Geranium (Geranium viscosissimum) seedlings are just 2 weeks old! First time growing these, I can’t believe how fast they’ve grown, with only water and grow lights. Not a great germination rate, but I’ll look for seedlings around the parent plants in a couple of months.
