Has anyone else read “Dragonbane” from free league publishing? I just read it, and I think it’s neat, but I don’t know if I’d ever run it myself. To me it seems like “guilt free D&D” and I just have so many other systems that I’d rather run instead of it.

And finally recent Ennie award winner, Alec Sorenson. His Bastionland art is always exceptional and Mythic Bastionland just takes it to a whole new level I didn’t think it was possible. I’ve never seen a book with art as perfect for its theme as Mythic Bastionland. It deserves every accolade.
Next my constant favourite, Scrap Princess. Scrap’s art has been described as “chaos doodles” I recall by somebody I read once, but these “doodles“ make me feel something and to me that’s the point of art.
For the first artist it’s really every artist that has ever drawn for Goodman Games, but I’ll share Sanjulian. His DCC covers are some of my favourite.

So whose RPG art gets me excited?
I know I’ve talked about this topic before but it’s worth going over again. Give the visually minded reader something to imagine, which sparks their brain meat to create and describe.
I could have made a post about my favourite Patrons in the game from official sources and amazing third party supplements, but instead I spent my Friday night making my own from scratch.

Day 1, Patron
The prompt today was “Patron” and as a Dungeon Crawl Classics Judge, patrons are an important part of the magical cosmic ecosystem. Wizards make deals with them for spells, and Elves cant cast magic without having one in the first place….

TTRPG KidsCon!! Ran “Mausritter” this morning for 4 brave rodents. They saved the cheese and cheese makers from a gang of rats.

I mean the lack of monster creation systems (they want you to BUY monsters not make them yourself) the less roleplaying focus in a roleplaying game. I’m reading it and I’m thinking about the mechanics and not how cool I can be. I’ve never read an rpg that cared less about the people who play it.
The more about the new D&D I read, (doesn’t even have a name, what is it? Is it 5.5?? Wtf) the more disappointed I feel. And I’m not taking about Orcs. I don’t give a shit about that.

Finally had a chance to try “Eat the Reich” from the always impressive Grant Howitt. Very impressive one-shot/mini campaign game. As an old school D&D head it is still an initial struggle to break out of the mold and fully embrace a story first game like this one. It’s a habit I am trying to break.
Gonna be a hell of a good #ttrpg week. Had a Forbidden Lands game yesterday. Friday it’s Fallout 2d20 night. Saturday it’s the end of a glorious Hunter the Reckoning chronicle, and Sunday is also Fallout 2d20 with another group. :)
Come and watch, support a great cause for the kids. I’ll personally be on the RPG stream from 8pm till 1am yelling at people. :)
