For anybody in the tristate area, Princeton's German Department is hosting a chamber music concert on February 19, with the wonderful Gabrielle Ferrari lending her voice to Bettina von Arnim. Program to follow!

Long in the making, out now: the latest issue of Diacritics, dedicated entirely to Walter Benjamin's "Fate and Character" (1919) – his dense reflection on fate, escape and liberation, written in a world in the grip of war, failed revolutions and erupting fascism

Harun Farocki: Indoctrination This film is about a five-day seminar designed to teach executives how to 'sell themselves' better. This course, designed for managers, teaches the basic rules of dialectics and rhetoric and provides ...

and 2) "Indoctrination" about managerial/neoliberal rehearsing and affect suppression in 1986 West Germany – The first longer of F's "observational films" (filmed in the murkily famed because Nazi-founded "Harzburger Akademie für Führungskräfte"). Might also interest you @quinnslobodian.com…

Indeed. Currently starting my Farocki-focused writing semester, i.e. the "theory film" project. Looking forward to reading your thoughts @benjaminschultzfig.bsky.social.

Yes, I also wanted to try Open/Libre O again at some point, having had the same buggy experience some years ago; am also hoping to skip out on the forced AI implementation. And Re: Cloud-based: I was even thinking about paying for the Collabora Suite on the Nextcloud that I use,

Brunch hang on a weekend instead of dinner party worked better: less formal, more easy going, no alcohol or long cooking prep necessary, parents can bring kids, people can go & come a bit more spontaneously, etc. Give it a try…
