It's not about the same solution applied everywhere, but best practice encouraged if appropriate. It is actually something that the police are now doing quite well, through the NPCC conferences on different topics. But, even then, you can see different forces doing things 'as they always have'.
The idea of local accountability is important, but so is efficiency. Hearing about the same problem being differently solved by each group that encounters it, with varying degrees of success, rather than seeking best practice. I wondered how long it would be before this was said out loud.
The politics of the Trump picks, many of whom wholly unsuited to the role, is fascinating. He wins boths ways, eg if Gaetz is passed fit, Trump's will is vindicated, if he is rejected, it is the deep state stopping the will of the people. Etc for the others. Both outcomes suit the narrative.
