Today, I feel like learning how to use the `sfnetworks` package to help with some upcoming projects I have in mind. Thankfully, I have found a tutorial on Youtube by members from @weare.rladies.org! Can't wait to start following along and building my skill set. 📊

Very cool, and I was wondering how you added the annotations so I took a look at the script. Love the custom function for adding annotations.

I didn't forget to make a FL-1 map as well. Looks like roughly 20% of the population for each of the incl. counties receive Medicare benefits, which are now at-risk with the current admin. Again--cutting Medicare would hurt many across FL-1. @gayforcongress.bsky.social bsky.app/profile/flad...

Why include counties that are only kinda within the district? For those unfamiliar with gov't data, the latest 1-year estimates are usually only available down to county level. Rather than exclude counties containing only some FL-6 residents, I’ve chosen to include them for a more complete picture.

A map showing the breakdown of Medicare recipient share by county. In particular, about 1/3 Putnam, Marion, Lake, Flagler and Volusia County residents receive Medicare, which is being put at-risk by the current administration.
A data Hail Mary: for tmrw's election in FL-6, I created this map. In almost all incl. counties, nearly 1 in 3 residents rely on Medicare—now at risk under the current administration. Cuts would hit these counties hard, jeopardizing healthcare for many. @joshweil.bsky.social @fladems.bsky.social

Given the DoEd situation, I made this tool that enables NY-21 voters to explore funding allocations for special education in their local school district and grasp the stakes of potential staffing and resource reductions.

As New York prepares for its upcoming congressional special election—one of the few nationwide this year—it's crucial for NY-21 voters to understand the potential impact of recent Dept. of Ed federal worker layoffs and anticipated funding cuts, especially concerning special education programs.
