I spent NYE 1999 sleeping over at a mates house, watching him beat RE3 on his small portable (also black and white because yay, ntsc!) He got the copy as it didn't release here until Feb 2000 which meant basically forever.

I first played mgs pc this way and to save space I didn't install cutscenes or voice acting (remember they used to separate them as optional installs) plus I had a low spec machine so just about the definition of unplayable.

I think if there was an off switch for negative thoughts, everyone would use it. Sadly, brains don't have that covenience.
