I think US citizens, especially business & political leaders, should spend extensive time abroad (including EU and China) to get an idea of what's possible. Also - they should see both large cities like Berlin (where bikes are a HUGE modal share) but also small ones too.

On the other hand, really ACTUALLY good salespeople are absurdly vital. A lot of us tech people are great at architecting, but not quite as good at all the business of closing a sale. Good salespeople who can get it done make or break an agency.
