Not for nothin', but that song is a hell of a bop. My favorite new-ish sorta genre is throwback disco--"Never Gonna Not Dance Again" by P!nk, "Levitating" by Dua Lipa, and "Nice to Meet You" by Niall Horan are some of my favorite examples--and "Wood" fits right in. No pun intended.
This is the stuff that gives license to regular folks to let their hate flow freely. The expression of hate, met with a disinterested shrug, sends a strong message.
And that message is sent to our youth as well.
We saw this week how Republicans shrugged at Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) tweeting that "Muslims don't belong in American society." This kind of rank Islamophobia has been part of the GOP for a long time. Sometimes it's at a simmer, and sometimes it's a raging fire. Now is one of those times.
