Trump didn’t win. Europe didn’t lose
The new tariff deal looks like a humiliation for the EU. In reality, Americans will foot the bill—and Europe may have scored a quiet victory
Almost every headline today screams that Europe has been humiliated, Trump wins, and we’ll pay 15% tariffs.
That story is wrong.
Trump hasn’t won. The EU hasn’t lost. And Americans—not Europeans—will foot the bill.
My latest piece explains why this deal may actually be a small win for Europe. 👇

It's the best time ever to experiment with new coding tools. Coding with o1-preview is very effective for hard research tasks (structural modeling with pyTorch, functions for custom latex tables, computing Hessians). 4o/Claude do well on simpler data cleaning with just a little guidance.

See inside the stereotyping machines pushing American bias across the internet
See how AI image generators like Stable Diffusion and DALL-E amplify American bias in gender, race and beyond.
Artificial intelligence image tools have a tendency to spin up disturbing clichés: Asian women are hypersexual. Africans are primitive. Europeans are worldly. Leaders are men. Prisoners are Black.
