@zjmontague.bsky.social Should your article read that the Epstein controversy has consumed "the capital," or "the Capitol?" Grammarians everywhere want to know. ;-)

Everyone concerned about data loss right now should learn about the End of Term Web Archive, which I believe has been working on preserving federal websites for the past 8 months. The dataset you fear has been lost may well be here

Just an incredible project. Thank you to everyone involved

Kennedy Says He Will Give HPV Vaccine Lawsuit Proceeds to His Son Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also disclosed that he had reached at least one settlement agreement with a company or individual that has accused him of “misconduct or inappropriate behavior.”

This clown actually thinks that giving the proceeds of the Gardasil lawsuits to his son...HIS SON...frees him of any ethics problems. That in and of itself is disqualifying! www.nytimes.com/2025/01/31/h...

Trump signed an executive order today withdrawing fed funds from schools teaching Critical Race Theory, the 1619 Project and "radical gender ideology." Tomorrow's CRT lesson (critique of colorblindness) would be grounds to pull funding if it were taught in a high school. shorturl.at/qpVc1

And our article from 2019 shows why presidents do not have constitutional authority for suspension, impoundment, or delaying congressionally allocated funds:

Twenty-two states sue to strike down Trump's silly EO disallowing the constitutionally-guaranteed birthright citizenship. I would give the drafters of this EO an F- in constitutional interpretation. apnews.com/article/birt...

Trump scriveners editing to take out the birthright citizenship provision. Hope that no one will notice when they put it back.

Not to mention the idea that a president could with the stroke of a pen end birthright citizenship, which is constitutionally guaranteed. All this is for show, I imagine. Constitution be damned!

Tik Tok, time's up. The idea that a president can sign an executive order to delay or refuse to enforce a federal law, after the law has already gone into effect, is outrageous. Tom Cotton, do you need some lawyers?

At my former institution, we succeeded eliminating them in connection with hiring and promotion...for about five minutes. Of course, they crept back in, but much minimized.

I'm with your earlier comment--if he'd cleared death row and had pardoned more than 26 people, lowest evah, plus if he hadn't said he trusted the system and accepted the verdict, if he himself weren't the reason for the political pressure--I might feel better about this pardon.

If he'd cleared death row before H, if he weren't the reason for the political pressure, if Trump hadn't pardoned Joe Arpaio before he'd been sentenced, if he hadn't said that he would accept the outcome of a justice system he trusted....

Consensus in my crowd of law profs + criminal attys. Handbook doesn't say prefers, says requires. Disagree that Biden's lack of time mitigates. Plus Biden has only pardoned 26 peeps so far, lowest EVER. Prioritizing H w/no criteria, lots of others more deserving, said he wouldn't = BAD.
