Some years ago I contracted a debilitating lung infection, now blessedly under control. For a long period, simply walking the 30 feet to my mailbox was an arduous task. I was forever after more cognizant of the effects a disability can have on one's quality of life.

Each and every non-disabled person on this planet is just one illness or injury away from becoming disabled.

Let that sink in.

Let that now change your ableist attitude to be just a wee more empathetic toward disabled people, because you too can become one of us at any time.
