Normal cops in the US are violent enforcers of racist capital, but with a layer of regulation imposed by popular struggles. ICE are outright brownshirt ethnic cleansers. This is fascism: normal capitalist barbarism ramped up to 11. This is reaction: any legal hindrance to their power is oppression.

Whoa. If that is true, what would it have to do with US immigration or customs? ICE already acts like the secret police, that would be dropping all pretense. Thank you for posting that!

(Not actual names, just examples.) Is this some kind of book club? An odd scam? A minuscule money laundering operation? What the hell?

I sent the first 3 orders before I noticed, inclined to cancel the remaining 3.

For the record, the book is Looming Low Volume I, published in 2017.

This is odd… Since Monday I have received 6 orders through the web store -- all 6 have the same physical address in NYC and are for the same $1 e-book. Orders have different nondescript names with similar email address format, like Jon Doe - jondoe17@gmail.com, Jane Doe - janedoe64@gmail.com, etc.

It's a minor point at this stage, but as a rhetorical curiosity it should be clear to even the most charitable observer that all, *all*, of Republican commitment to the principle of 'State's Rights' was just racism.

From a good friend in Minneapolis: "Target is allowing ICE to stage in their parking lots, use their restrooms, and abduct people from inside their stores - so if you weren’t boycotting already, now is the time." They were staging in Chicago as well.

There was last time I looked into it. Domestic pets, 30 days. I think we could meet the other requirements (hurray for remote work) but that was a dealbreaker. Plus, poor circulation (Raynaud's) makes cold climates difficult for me. So it goes.

We’ve considered moving to Canada a couple of times but there is a 30-day quarantine for animals and I can’t imagine being separated from the cats for that long. (Also I don’t like snow/cold.)

100%. It is so, so frustrating. Cult of personality. They don't care about hypocrisy or literally anything else except hurting their perceived enemies, even if it eventually hurts them too. America was founded on genocide and slavery and way too many folks here have no problem with that.

Finished this collection and enjoyed it quite a bit. Every story's a little different but mostly in the Weird vein, sci-fi like I Have No Mouth But I Must Screams, some gothic and quiet, and others straight speculative fiction. 1/?
