Firing public servants during a government shutdown is cruel, unnecessary, and inflicts pain on working families.

It does nothing to bring the sides closer to a bipartisan solution that reopens the government, and it may violate collective bargaining agreements and federal labor laws.

Since Watergate, both parties have recognized that using the Department of Justice to punish political opponents crosses a dangerous line. The justice system must never be weaponized for revenge — that’s the path to autocracy and authoritarianism.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on 9/11 and honor the families who carry their memory every single day. We salute the courage of police officers, firefighters, service members, and first responders who run toward danger to protect others.

We will never forget.

Violence has no place in our political discourse. The Charlie Kirk shooting is a reprehensible act that I reject in the strongest possible terms. The disagreements we have as Americans are a cornerstone of our democratic society and they must be resolved through peaceful debate.

Central NY’s largest health insurer is raising rates by 20% for people in state’s individual marketplace But the average hike for similar health care plans statewide is 7.1%.

This is why I'm cosponsoring legislation to keep more money in your pocket—like the Healthcare Affordability Act and the Protecting Health Care and Lowering Costs Act - which would restore funding to Medicaid and lock in tax credits that keep costs reasonable.
