Do not be driven mad by The Shadow Out of Time. Gou Tanabe's next manga adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's work is coming in December. Pre-order: https://bit.ly/3IzROWj

In H.P. Lovecraft's The Shadow Out of Time, one professorโ€™s mental sabbatical becomes a literal descent into the occult. #DHhorror

As coal fades, Australia looks to realize dream of 100% renewableโ€ฆ The countryโ€™s grid operator says shifting from coal to clean power is not only possible but inevitable. The work there could provide a road map for otherโ€ฆ

Australia's grid operator has a clear line of sight to 100% renewables. There's nothing unknown or exotic required.

It'll be fun when the first large/major economies start hitting the goal. Too bad the US is likely to be at the rear of the pack.

Old joke about an economist stuck in a well who isn't worried since they have a solution: "assume there's a ladder." Except it's the world's largest economy going "assume there's a digital genie in a couple of years and we control it."

Scientists race to make 'living' computers powered by human cells BBC News goes inside the lab powering computers with 'mini brains' grown from human cells.

They create little orbs of neurons and supporting cells that they then hook to electrodes.

Eerie: activity races just before the orbs die.

One outfit has taught them to play "Pong." They're making tiny gamers.

Better scale up so they can have a war with Ai!

Rhys Hughes - Wikipedia

In a great injustice, my favorite literary absurdist Rhys Hughes' Wikipedia entry is flagged for not meeting notability standards.

Scandalous.

And the others. A rock band, I don't remember which, reused the painting for The Big Sleep as an album cover. Adams did many covers for Agatha Christie, which were collected in a coffee-table book. He also worked on the film Alien!

Huh. I didn't know moderation settings defaulted to hide nudity. Toggled it off and I see it now.

Style reminds me of David K. Stone, who did a little book that formed my vision of what being an illustrator in 60s America was when I was a teen.

Currently reading. Learned that the Lucas Museum bought all the originals to Crumbโ€™s โ€œGenesisโ€ for 2.9 million.

Nice windfall for Crumb but probably too late in life to really enjoy any change it brings. Security, anyway.

So counter-intuitive to lose contour in making a bolder graphic statement, but you show the way.
