Mike Johnson and John Thune have had plenty of time to compromise. It’s not like they’ve been busy representing average Americans.

Conservative states, dependent on federal redistribution, presume to dictate terms to the very liberal states that fund the nation.

That’s not balance—it’s an abusive relationship funded by 21st-century taxation without representation.

It’s time to show them that two can play at “states’ rights."

We now live in a country in which people were fired from their jobs because they quoted Charlie Kirk directly while a Fox News host openly called for killing homeless ("unhoused"... ugh) people and got barely a slap on the wrist.

Individual liberty is the cornerstone of American democracy. Without it, only authoritarianism is possible. Just as Occam's Razor suggests the simplest explanation tends to be correct, I hold that the system of governance with the fewest appeals to external authority will best serve our interests.

A government shutdown is imminent. Mike Johnson's party controls all branches but has failed to pass bipartisan funding bills. It's time to represent average Americans: dial back billionaire tax cuts and stop the plan to gut affordable healthcare.

Just split it somehow and let me know where to relocate to before it's too late.

To clarify recent debates at SCOTUS, I created a job aide. Whether it’s abortion access or trans care for minors with parental consent—it’s about respecting liberty! Making individual liberties subject to the whims of either state legislatures or DC without compelling justification is tyrannical.

Newsflash, Marjorie—when you say "their money," you are referring to liberal tax revenue from liberal states which your party redistributes to federally-dependent states such as your own. It's time that Dems stop screwing around and show the GOP the power of the purse.

I grew up in northern NH and moved to Boston and then Tampa Bay once I reached adulthood. Rural New England was pretty tolerant, etc. back in the 90s and is still better than the rural southern states, but the "Trumpification" of rural America has spread everywhere like cancer.

Wealthy, urban, liberal-leaning states like California and New York pay more in federal taxes, while rural, conservative-leaning states like Mississippi and Kentucky receive more in federal aid. Effectively, urban areas subsidize rural areas via federal redistribution.

My favorite is local politicians (in FL) with lines like "the most important thing to know about me is that I'm an evangelical". 🤣

Yes! And it doesn't end in 2 months. We must be vigilant in identifying unconstitutional acts or unreasonable infringements on individual liberty, and we must be prepared to address them.

Yes! Democratic leadership (and any other liberty-minded people) need to organize openly and set clear boundaries with Trump. They need to make it clear that liberty will not be sacrificed at the altar to his ego.

No fear, no fury—action. Organize, assemble, form coalitions. When Trump and his sycophants inevitably violate the constitution (whether or not the partisan US Supreme Court acknowledges it), nullify that crap in liberal strongholds and cut off federal funding.

Agreed! I don't care what motivated them. A vote for Trump is a vote for more than half of the country to be treated as second-class citizens. They are complicit.

MAGA assumes that it can act with impunity and that the left will always kowtow to it. I look forward to the day that ceases to be true.
