"I'm sorry if I..." Is acceptable if you also realize other effects your actions could've had that were not brought to your attention
Ie. "I'm sorry I punched you in the face. I'm also sorry if I broke your teeth."

Lukewarm take: if your apology goes "I'm sorry if I..." it's not a real apology.
'if' denotes you do not recognize your wrong doing but you're listening just enough to regurgitate the subject of someone's issue with you

"I'm sorry I...." Is all you need and shows ownership of your mistake
