The T8 costs 39m credits, so not a starter ship. But no unlocks needed besides credits. Mining is definitely chill and a good way to return. Even a small ship can get you started. And, welcome back! o7

I'm not sure I understand your question. The T8 is one of the new ships. I fitted it with mining equipment (lasers, refinery, etc) and have been using it for the current Community Goal. I've been playing for awhile, but most players should be able to buy the ship and kit it for mining.
