I am touched by those who have reached out to me with their own stories of what it means to be a minority. Thank you for sharing!

My deep gratitude goes to the many colleagues who have discussed the book, commented on it, and asked questions. There is no better reward than critical engagement, with the hope that the book can be useful to those who read it.

“Circumstantial liberals” concluded their book tour across 10 countries, Prague to Vancouver, Lisbon to Gothenburg. It ended appropriately in Washington D.C., where Martin Luther King once had a dream. The dream of the book is that we stop thinking of ethnicity as a problem, but as an opportunity.

I spent all of this morning here. There is a seat, so I sat there, and read a number of articles in preparation of a literature review for a paper. Whenever my eyes left the page, I gazed at the winter scene on the Seine as seen by Monet over a century ago. He may need to go in the acknowledgments.
