Ground nests represent 5-10% of nesting habits in chimpanzees. At #Bugoma 🇺🇬 21% of the chimps' overnight nests are built on the ground, which is the highest level reported so far.

New warfare insight in chimps by my friend S. Lemoine (& co): in @taichimpproject.bsky.social chimps are most likely to climb hills when they reach the edge of their territory to assess the position of neighbouring groups & decide if they should carry on or retreat journals.plos.org/plosbiology/...
A 21y longitudinal study using demographic and hormonal data describes for the 1st time menopause in Ngogo chimpanzees. So far, it was only described in humans and whales. Females were observed to live more than 50yo, ~10y after having stopped to give birth. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
