Ground nests represent 5-10% of nesting habits in chimpanzees. At #Bugoma 🇺🇬 21% of the chimps' overnight nests are built on the ground, which is the highest level reported so far.

A 21y longitudinal study using demographic and hormonal data describes for the 1st time menopause in Ngogo chimpanzees. So far, it was only described in humans and whales. Females were observed to live more than 50yo, ~10y after having stopped to give birth. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
